The doctor visit and Stephen the bully

The twins finally got into the doctor today. Thank you Florida Medicaid for being the worst medical insurance system of ever, and dropping the twins without notifying me so that they were so behind on their shots they had to get 4 today. They would have had to get 6 but thanks to technology one of their shots was a 3-in-1 combo.

Sarah weighed in at 27 lbs, 12 oz. She is 33.5 inches tall. Stephen weighed in at 25lbs, 3 oz. He is also 33.5 inches tall. It wouldn’t appear that way when you look at them while they walk, but I guess they really are the same height. They had sniffles and fluid starting to back up in their ears so the doc went ahead and put them on antibiotics to keep an infection from happening since they were having so many shots and could be vulnerable.

They did wonderful during the exam, watching the nurse and doctor and allowing them to poke and prod as needed. Of course being so fair skinned their skin turned red after a while in places and the doctor explained that is because of their fairness and it is contact dermatitis. It went away before we left the office.

Then it was shot time. By this time the twins were tired, stir crazy, and ready to leave. They had blown through the animal crackers and sippy cups I had brought them and were just ready to go home. Steve had to hold them down while they got their shots. At first, Sarah didn’t cry for the first one. The rest were history, she was hysterical. When they handed her back to me she was still sobbing and red-faced. Stephen was even worse, crying until he lost his breath and his face turning bright red. It was sad. I nearly passed out. They cried until we got to the car. We gave them lollipops for being troopers and I had to put them both in the car because they didn’t want Steve. I guess he is the bad guy now since he held them while they got poked like pin cushions. Aww. They fell asleep and we finished running errands, got some lunch, and came home. They took a nice nap and now are playing nicely, mostly…

Baby Steve became a bully this week. If Sarah takes something from him, he goes after her for it! He’s chased her back and forth in the living room for things. Of course, Sarah is faster and just takes off when he gets close which makes him even more angry. He has also been swinging at her and us when he ’s angry. He got me right in the face today before the doctor when I picked him up and took him out of the kitchen. I was so stunned. He batted me right in the nose and had a nice pissed off look on his face. I guess our quiet passive little boy has a bit of his mother in him. Poor child!!!! LOL.
