It his finally happened. Sarah and Stephen now have their own language and are occasionally having conversations. It’s the most amazing thing I have ever seen. They understand each other so well. In addition, little Steve has learned some new words. He loves to run around the house yelling and babbling all the time and occasionally you can make out what he is saying. He does REAL good with daddy, doggie, sisa (Elisa), thank you, what’s that, that’s it, and NO. Yes, he says no…mostly to his sister which I will get to later. Sarah is working on words but not near as talkative as Stephen. She says duck while in the bathtub, on occasion she has said ‘more’ when eating dinner, and she knows who her Dada is and will call for him if she needs him. Other than that, she likes to have her babble conversations that consist mostly of one syllable words, but you can see in her face she is trying to talk and understand what we all say.

The twinkies know what it means when we tell them to sit down, get down, give to Mommy, eat, have milk, go to bed, take a bath, change your diaper. When we say those phrases they look at us and either run to the kitchen, run to us, or totally disregard what we have said. The disregard usually comes when we ask them to sit down or get down off of something. You can see they understand but don’t want to do it. Gotta love that rebellous streak.

Well, in addition to babbling with each other, the twins have started fussing and fighting with each other. Gone are the days of one toy for the both of them. They fight over lots of hot items right now - and we are trying to teach Stephen to not give up and go get things back from Sarah. Usually she will walk up and take something and he will cry and run to mommy. But the other day he actually took what he wanted back and I think Sarah was so shocked she just went on to find something else. It was rather funny. He is also very pushy when it comes to eating. If I am feeding him he will push her out of the way and tell her no and swat at her. He doesn’t like for her to barge over and get his food, even though they share every single meal that they eat. He does the same thing if she takes something from him and he doesn’t immediately wuss out and run to mommy. We had a little talk yesterday about being nice and giving kisses instead of swatting…and it worked while they were in my lap and I was telling them. Once they got down it was a different story. Little Steve doesn’t realize he is the smaller of the two and one day Sarah is going to hit him back and put him in his place. For now she just looks at him like, ‘whatever’ when he swats at her. They are definitely brother and sister.

We are still at the same place I wrote about last time - Elisa touching the babies all of the time, Sarah turning on and off the TV and Stephen climbing the table. Both the twins’ favorite thing to do is climb on the sofa and turn on and off the living room and hall lights. They are non-stop. But, they do other things too now like sit and let us read board books to them, play chasing games with Elisa, throw the ball and go and get it, and Elisa is drawing some awesome pictures of mommy with the baby in her belly which crack me up. They also go and play in their rooms quietly occasionally (when they aren’t tearing each and every wipe out of the container) and also jump ALL over the place. Sarah is going to be a long jump queen - she can leap in STRIDES. It’s amazing.

Ah, Elisa…she’s just struggling ya know? She’s 5 years old with bounds and bounds of energy and she wants to go and do things that mommy can’t right now. We are working on our cleaning habits and discipline. I wish I had the energy to take her outside and play more than I do. But, this is a temporary time and will pass and the 4 of us plus new baby will be outside playing in no time at all. I just wish I could make her understand that…

Ok, bath time. Hope ya enjoyed the update. Gotta go get Sarah off the sofa and Stephen to stop turning off and on the lights. AHHHHHH!!!
