SNOW FLURRIES IN FLORIDA!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Melanie @ 9:47 am

That’s right folks, last night it snowed in Florida. We had some showers and really cold winds which somehow produced snow flurries.

Of course it didn’t stay on the ground - but apparently if you looked up at a streetlight around 10pm last night you could see the snow in the light from the streetlight. Amazing.

It’s freakin cold! I LOVE IT!

MASQUERADE!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Melanie @ 6:50 pm

Ok, our party was the BEST! We had some issues with getting everything ready on time, but we had the BEST TIME! Ok - let me describe…

We had candles lit everywhere. All the guests wore black and had a mask for the most part. Katie had on a beautiful lace gown complete with a gold mask and dangling crystals. She looked BEAUTIFUL. She had on this gorgeous gold makeup and adorable ringlets in her hair. She was dressed like Christine from Phantom and she did the part VERY nicely. Her hubby was the Phantom from the Masquerade scene. He had on this enormous red cape and kept hiding behind Gregg and Danae’s curtains.

Gregg had on a tux and an awesome mask from La Nouba that matched Danae’s turquoise gown. Her mask was black with feathers. I did a comedy mask with a black gown. My hubby also had a tux and the tragedy mask to go with my comedy one. Scott had a leopard mask. Ryan had a skeletor mask. Steve and Kristen had a kitty cat mask and a weird guy sorta mask. Steve’s mask was clear except for the facial hair - very different but COOL to look at. Jeppy had on a white mask with the phantom’s type of hair on top. It was also kinda serial-killerish. Everyone did a great job dressing up and looked so elegant.

Gregg and Danae hosted the party at their fabulous house. Their place is awesome for partying - huge sofa, HUGE projection screen hi-def TV - PS2, Xbox - what could be better? We had some great appetizers including some little hot dogs that were AMAZING and some homeade chips and salsa that ROCKED that Scott made…and then we had this 6 layer massive chocolate cake. Nobody could finish their piece of cake no matter how small. After I put 30 candles on it we sliced it up and unless you were sharing, you had leftovers and needed a HUGE glass of water after you got done eating.

We had the best bartender ever. Gregg broke out his top shelf vodka and we made mint-chocolatinis which were divine. We then had some 5-point punch (long story) and he spiced those up for people who were willing. They even made some awesome shots with vodka and some orange drenched in sugar. Those were the best. Our host and hostess were amazing.

Now here was the best part. GUITAR HERO 2, KARAOKE REVOLUTION and DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION!!! Danae and Gregg are masters of Dance Dance and they showed us their moves. We danced for a few and then broke out the singing. That mixed with the vodka made for some of the most hilarious versions of Material Girl and Play That Funky Music I have ever heard. Thank you, Gregg and Jeppy!! We sang for most of our time into the wee hours. Then we played some of the new Guitar Hero 2 and then ended the night watching some SNL.

We had a great evening. I think themed parties are the way to go for birthdays. Look out for a Pimps and Ho’s gathering coming in February for some people you may know who are turning 30 within a week or two of each other!!!!!!

im excited

Filed under: Uncategorized — Melanie @ 10:21 am

Today we are having a Masquerade Ball for Katie’s birthday. We are dressing up and getting together in full masquerade regality and I am just very excited about it. I am wearing a nice dress and helped some of my gals pick out something very nice too. The boys are all wearing suits and masks and it is going to be a very nice time.

I will try to post some pictures or something afterwards. We are excited to see what costumes people come up with and how fancy everyone dresses. And, we are going to play some guitar hero and dance dance revolution - what could be better?

Happy Birthday, Katie!

LOST!!!!!!!!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Melanie @ 1:48 am

Ok.

I have been a fan of this show, Lost, since I first saw a preview for the new season 3 years ago and almost puked. The commercial showed a very detailed plane crash complete with the plane breaking up and masks falling and everything. It was disgusting and it peaked my interest so I watched the Pilot. Sick, I know, but hey, their advertising worked!

Little did I know what I would be getting into.

Now, LOST is like a sick addiction. I hate the show. I love the show. I hate that I love the show. I don’t know what to do! For a while I wasn’t happy with the second season because I felt like they asked too many questions and didn’t give enough answers. I would read spoilers and know key points before everyone else and be all un-shocked as I watched my family and friends react to it. That was the only way I could survive. It truly is like the bad boy in school you aren’t supposed to like but can’t help liking it. Like I have time to sit and read spoilers or opinions or look for screen caps of the monster or the hatch or anything!?!?!?!?!?!

This season I have been protesting the show but continuing to watch. I quit reading spoilers for a few reasons - the crew got more tight-lipped about things and started putting out ‘foilers’ which were not true and meant to throw people off, and I really was bored with the show at the beginning of this season so I gave up reading about it. Finally. FINALLY I got a good episode tonight - one I had no idea about, didn’t know what was coming - and that actually answered a question. It was rather entertaining but at the same time annoying…because they only answered like 1/1000th of the questions that are out there and what was answered was probably least important. And, of course they raised more questions. But now, I am backed to being hooked like I was first season!!! What am I going to do?!?

To TOP ALL OF THIS OFF…at the end of tonights episode they tell us that next week will be the FALL SEASON FINALE. DO YOU REALIZE WHAT THIS MEANS?!?!?!?! We get one more episode and then NOTHING until FEBRUARY 7th. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?!?!?!?! What the heck are we going to do until then!?!? There are so many paths and plots that have got to have some sort of answers, and more questions that are being asked as the plot thickens!!! AHHHH!!! IT HURTS MY HEAD!!!!!

I do have to say that I am finally starting to let go of the tons of non-answers and enjoy what is happening. Tonight’s episode, though sad, was very entertaining and interesting, left me at the edge of my seat (sofa)…and even caused me to shed a tear at the end. I always shed a tear when this particular event happens in the show and tonight wasn’t an exception.

So, for all you who have not yet gotten ‘LOST’ - I have season one on DVD that you can borrow and I plan to add season 2 to our collection by Christmas. You have until February 7th to get all caught up and I’d HIGHLY advise you to do so. You are missing some great television!!! I rarely watch anything that isn’t a reality show especially since my Alias went off, but this show is back to being my favorite show of ever. Everyone needs to watch it. GET LOST YALL!!!

P.S. I love Eko. :(
